HELP EAST STREET PILATES SUPPORT THE MICHIGAN ANIMAL RESCUE LEAGUE

If you love your furry friends as much as we do, please help us in supporting the Michigan Animal Rescue League. This unique shelter is one of the very few NO KILL shelters in our area. Now more than ever, abused and uncared for dogs and cats are being abandoned by owners who can longer afford to or who no longer care to keep their animals. These are loving and special pets who need our help! In addition to keeping and caring for hundreds of animals at their shelter, the Rescue League provides a unique service to people in the Pontiac area who love their pets, but cannot afford food for them. Michigan Animal Rescue League allows these people to come by the shelter to pick up food for their pets at no cost. But without corporate sponsorship or major donations, the Rescue League relies on kind hearts like yours to keep the food supply up. In the lobby of our studio, you will find a big box where we collect dog and cat food, litter, cleaning supplies and pet store gift cards. We personally deliver these supplies to the shelter periodically. Please find it in your heart to donate whatever you can to help the shelter. Your donations are what keeps their good work going! For more information, please visit www.michigananimalrescueleague.org.

Gretchen realized her passion for health and fitness at a young age, as part of the Bowling Green State University Gymnastics team. After receiving her bachelors degree from BGSU she went on to become a gymnastics and group fitness intructor. After being trained in Pilates in 2000, she really found her niche. Gretchen enjoys teaching students about body awareness, strength and flexibility while incorporating the fitball, toning bands, fitness circle and foam rollers into her classes. THE PILATES METHOD

Cara
The Pilates Method is a total body-conditioning workout for both men and women consisting of a series of more than 500 specifically designed, low-impact, controlled movements engaging the body and mind. Emphasizing correct breathing and body alignment, The Pilates Method uses the abdomen, lower back and buttocks as the "powerhouse", enabling the rest of the body to move freely. The goal is to develop a high degree of abdominal strength, better posture, stability, greater flexibility of the spine and limbs while combining the power of mind and body. Pilates can help reduce lower back pain, prevent injury, speed up recovery, shrink waist lines and improve high blood pressure, depression and osteoporosis. Pilates has been highly recommended by physical therapists, chiropractors, orthopedic surgeons, and rehabilitation specialists for the greater health and productivity of the physical body.

Stretch class at East Street Pilates begins with a full-body 15 minute warm-up to get the blood pumping and the muscles ready for deep stretching. We flow immediately into 40 minutes of both self-stretching and assisted deep stretching, respecting your body’s limits while working towards increased flexibility. Stretching the muscles is an integral part of achieving the long, lean look that Pilates is famous for. This class is a great opportunity to check in with your body on a weekly basis and is an excellent complement to your Pilates practice. Join us on Monday mornings at 11am or Wednesdays at 5:30pm for this wonderfully invigorating and restorative class, and get your week started off right. Call or email the studio to schedule this hour for yourself and let your body achieve it’s full potential!
