"Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness."
-Joseph H. Pilates

Rylie McHale began her study of Pilates after several years as a ballet dancer. During her dance career she was awarded scholarships to Alvin Alley, Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Cincinnati Ballet and Grand Rapids Ballet. Throughout her dance life she struggled with countless injuries. One in particular resulted in an early end to her career as a professional ballet dancer with the Grand Rapids Ballet Company. She began Pilates after several months of physical therapy, and finally saw ground breaking results when she utilized the combination of Pilates and physical therapy. Not only did she see results in her injury recovery, but also increases in strength, flexibility, posture, and body awareness that she had never gained in her life of dancing. She became passionate about sharing her story and the importance of Pilates to people (dancers in particular). She has recently started a dance training center, Element Dance Training, focused on strong technique and a sturdy dance foundation. Rylie is now Stott Pilates trained in Mat and Reformer. She is thrilled to have joined the staff at East Street Pilates.
